Te Manawa presents a starry eyed story about a little blue penguin who seeks help from the night sky when his friend is captured by a sea monster.
Korora is terrified when he and his friend are attacked by a sea monster while in the ocean. The moon and stars give him the strength and confidence to go back and fight the monster and rescue his friend. The monster is made of all the rubbish floating in the sea.
The children get close up to a very cute little blue penguin and are introduced to the idea that these special little birds and the ocean where they live need our protection from rubbish. The show also introduces some constellations Maori recognised in the sky, Te Matau a Maui and Te Ra o Tainui. This show uses a range of puppetry: String, shadow, glove and mask.
